JUST A MINUTE

Students of Stds. V, VI, VII and VIII participate in an ex-tempore JAM (Just a Minute) competition annually, wherein they have to speak for a minute on a given topic. Such an event hones public speaking and linguistic skills, while encouraging the students to think on their feet; thus fostering a sense of self-confidence and faith in oneself.

TURNCOAT

Complementing the Just a Minute (JAM) event in the lower classes, students of Stds. IX and X participate in Turncoat, which tests their ability to think from both sides of the coin in any given situation. Topics that have a clear dual perspective are given, and the students have to put forth points of view belonging to two contradictory sides, repeatedly changing their stance at the sound of a buzzer. Although demanding in nature, a competition such as this creates an open mindedness and acceptance of multiplicity of perspectives.

DEBATES & ELOCUTION

At JB, we seek to equip our students with the ability to hold their own in an argument, and not shy away from expressing their opinion. Keeping in line with this goal, our annual inter-house English and Hindi Debates furnish the students with the ability to coherently frame an argument based on detailed research, resulting in a sharpening of speaking, listening and presentation skills.
